Mineral Springs Issues

From our town's inception in August, 1999, most of the issues facing Mineral Springs are related to the rapid and, in some cases, destructive growth in Union County. I helped lead the incorporation of the Town of Mineral Springs, and the reasons we became a town were simple: to preserve our way of life, to protect our community's values.

We did not become a town to:

  • provide a lot of big-city services

  • get into the retail development business

  • get into the water and sewer business

  • get into the road business

  • charge big-city taxes

  • let developers take over our hometown

  • pollute our creeks

  • choke our roads with traffic

We promised:

  • to keep taxes low

  • to promote a reasonable and sustainable rate of growth

  • to protect our environment, including our creeks and open spaces

  • to maintain the small-town rural charm of our community!

I am asking for your support and your vote on November 7, 2023 to protect our town's values! Every vote will count this year. I have worked hard with your town council to keep these promises, and I pledge to continue working to do so!

Please take a look around you and see just how bad it can get. Travel north along Billy Howey Road, past the Pleasant Grove Campground, and observe the total destruction of the countryside by developers. Ride out Doster Road to the east of town, and look at the same disaster occurring around the Stonebridge Golf Course. Imagine the traffic on our narrow roads as the thousands of houses begin to be built. Try to remember the beautiful trees that once stood on those blasted-out sites.

And then...

Vote for RICK BECKER for Mayor to keep focused on Mineral Springs' motto: "Conservation by Design".
